4We Like It

By kdea473

When we got this stroller three months ago, it became the third stoller in our household. Even though I like the others (a Britax B-Ready Stroller, Black and a Joovy Caboose Stand On Tandem Stroller, Appletree), I've always been looking for a stroller that would be a little better (fit into the trunk better, steer better, etc.)

This stroller is the most compact of the three, both front-to-back and side-to-side. Of course, it seats a max of one child (versus the two children the other can seat), so that is expected. We found the four-year-old is refusing to sit in a stroller any longer, so a single stroller works just fine.

This stroller is also lighter than I am used to, though with the car seat in it, it is still quite heavy (about 40 pounds plus the baby). It fits into the trunk of the Honda just fine. I like the Spiro Navy pattern. (We also have a The First Years Via Infant Car Seat, Abstract O's and I'm not as fond of that pattern/color).

My biggest complaint is the storage space underneath the stroller. I find it hard to access easily (a complaint I also had with the Joovy Caboose). And as a stand-alone car seat, the car seat is rather heavy-duty. (Not a complaint, but an observation.) I actually found it rather reassuring, as it receives high safety ratings and we usually don't take the car seat out of the car.

I do like this better than my friend's Graco travel system. Certainly worth comparing the two if you are considering either one.

4Good, but heavy!

By Gadget Geek

I have to say that this is a very good stroller/carseat travel system. While it is not the best (with the exception of crash testing) for the price, you get very good components at an extremely affordable price. Prior to using this travel system, I was using a Peg-Perego 2011 Primo Viaggio Infant Car Seat, Paloma and a Combi Flare 2010 Lightweight Stroller, Kiwi so keep these in mind when you see my complaints, for the price of two of the automotive bases (which are sold separately, no base is included with the carseat when you buy it) you can get this entire travel system.

Pros:
-Price, can't get over how affordable this system is!!!
-Carseat has excellent padding that is easily removable for cleaning and to match fit to growing baby
-Carseat has TONS of additional seatbelt locking latches so if you aren't using the seat with the base the carseat is very well secured.
-Stroller is extremely easy to control even with one hand, very well balanced
-Stroller is very sturdy (very little flex in the frame)

Cons:
-Carseat does not have notches and cutouts that help the carseat sit firmly in shopping carts. With the Peg, I have never found a cart that I had a problem finding a good way to attach to a shopping cart. This carseat has no notches so I have had problems with 3 of 4 shopping carts where the seat area just couldn't securely and firmly hold the carseat.
-Carseat base is not as easy to attach since left and right anchors are independently attached to the base and the belt release buttons are extremely stiff (but this does insure that the belts won't inadvertently loosen in an impact) so if you move the base to multiple cars often, it can get annoying.
-Carseat base does not have a leveling device built in, instead it is on the carseat itself so when first installing (or re-installing) you have to adjust the tilt angle of the base, secure the LATCH, install the carseat (and in my case, only to find out it is not level and the baby was already in the seat, ugh!!!), remove everything and try again until level is in the green. With the Peg, the level indicator is on the base itself so you put the seat in and loosely attach LATCH, turn knob to level and then simply cinch down LATCH belts.
-Carseat level adjustment has only 5 preset levels of adjustment and the adjustment is only to a foot rather than a screw mechanism that tilts the entire base as in the Peg (see photos)
-Stroller seat back has to be reclined all the way to accommodate carseat, when in this position the lower storage compartment is virtually inaccessible.
-Stroller has a clear window to see baby but the size and placement of the window is useless with the carseat, you can't see the baby unless you are shorter than 5'2"
-Carseat and Stroller are heavier than the Peg and Combi.

On the face of it, it does look like there are lots of CONS, but please keep in mind that these are deficiencies are based upon comparisons to other manufacturer's products that cost LOTS more. For the price, it is an excellent system and I would highly recommend for those that are on a budget (knowing how much stuff a new baby needs and how much all this stuff costs. I have been spoiled with lighter weight equipment, but if I hadn't started off with them, I may not have noticed that much.

4Very nice seat and stroller

By Alexis Coxon

We used the carseat in this set much more than the stroller (so I can mostly say that it's fairly light and maneuverable, but it mostly sat in our garage, so I can't speak a lot to it foldability!). My daughter is 1 1/2 and we are just taking her out of the carseat -- she's still well below the weight limit but is getting too tall for it now. It's a nice-looking, well-padded seat with a comfortable handle (love the grippy cushioning!). The navy and gray of the Spiro pattern have done a great job of hiding dirt over the past year and a half, and it still looks quite good. In fact, we're about to pass it down now to a family who's planning another baby soon, and (unlike some of our previous seats and strollers), I won't be embarrassed at the way this one looks after heavy use.
